A Fantastic Show

The Who ceoncert was absoultely marvelous, it was definitly a must see.  Daltrey and Townshend can still rock out loud, and they did a great job of it.  The concert opened up with a set from the opening act, The Pretenders.  They were good but they didnt't play "Brass in Pocket"!  It was very odd, but at least they played "Chain Gang".  Then the Who came on and the crowd just exploded.  The opening number was "I Can't Explain" followed by "The Seeker" then some new stuff off of their new album.  They played a few more songs then "Baba O Riley" came on and I was just blown away.  I love the song even better live, it was brilliant.  The rest of the show was great, too, the final number being a classic "Won't Get Fooled Again".  The encore was of course, a few "Tommy" songs.  There could have been some changes though.  The concert was very good, but the Who could of played a few more songs.  No songs from "Quadrophiena" or some early hits like "Magic Bus" or "I Can See for Miles".  I was very disppointed when I realized "Love Reign O'er Me" wasn't going to play.  But otherwise, the songs were good.  The drummer wasn't bad either, his first name was Zach but that's all I could remember.  Hehe.  Of course he wasn't as good as Moon would of done but he was pretty crafty.  To sum it up the show was fantastic!

  • Great to hear that you enjoyed it. I would love to be able to see them. I'd imagine with Pete Townsend being such a control freak and perfectionist, their music would be as good as advanced age, ( :) ), and a couple of non original members could make it.
The drummer, I think, Is Ringo Stars' son, Zach Starkey. I have a DVD filmed in 2001, before John Entwhistle died, and they were using him then.

  • Yikes. Reading about your concert (and I'm glad it was excellent ~ what a great band indeed!) I checked a bit and was daunted to discover that Daltrey is nearly 63 years old!!! That isn't what I consider ancient, by any stretch, but the mere number startled me [and made me feel nicely 'old-ish and creaky', I might add]. I am SO glad they're still out there doing it up right, too. Good to hear that you enjoyed the show!

  • Hey thanks guys! I really did enjoy the show. And you were right, ainenei, it was Ringo's son, he was very good. And one of the backing guitarists was Townshend's brother, so that was pretty cool.
