Reflections in a vacant mind

Name:mnbates

Downscope Redux 2 'The Directors Cut'

What is the one luxury you could not live without?

Broadband, how else could I read the various blogs, chat boards and play quizzes.

Not to mention my long searches for obscure CDs,  DVD's and books.

What is your political affiliation?

I don't vote as it only encourages them.

Name something you've purchased and later thought:  What was I thinking?

Some of my 70's and 80's clothing purchases were dubious. The white jacket (which

flouresced under strobe lighting)  the purple shirt with large tear-drop collar and the

black silk cravat, all purchased at the same time and worn in combination with blue

drainpipe jeans and 'Pixie' boots were a definite mistake.

Have you ever been in a situation where everybody participated in an activity but you flat out refused?

Occasionally, recently because those activities had been covered in 'the wild years' between 1977 and 1994.

What is the one crime you would commit if you knew you could get away with it?

Guy Fawkes had the right idea, but was sloppy in its' execution. If I could get away with it

I would.

If you could have theme music playing every time you entered a room, which song would it be?

The theme tune from 'Peter Gunn' (Henry Mancini) as performed by Art of Noise.

What is the one quality you look for in a potential mate?

A striking resemblance to Audrey Hepburn, a terrific sense of humour, remarkable tolerance of poor, boring, ugly, scruffy men.

What causes you to curse the most?

Politicians, journalists (tabloid), celebrities, tv, (c)rap, dance music, football, cricket, religion, stupidity, the absence of free beer, pizza and women in 'a civilized society'.

What do you think of fake tans?

They're right up there with fake scholarship and the designated hitter.

Who was your favorite Osmond brother?

I despised them all equally.

  • So let me see if I have this straight: Everything basically makes you curse and you despise all the Osmonds? For shame.

  • "Free beer, pizza and women"? WOmen are free, last I looked, unless you have some chained up in your basement.

  • If you'd come over here with that outfit on in the seventies, it would have been oooh ahhh, British Invasion time.
I remember a party where this Brit named Ian was attending and all the women were fawning over him and his accent...if he'd been wearing clothes like that, we'd have swooned.
