How long has it been?

Other than the proclamation of my new quiz, I have not posted here in a long time. I've been working on some new quizzes, and after a 2 month hiatus have returned to this site with avengeance.

I have a soccer game tomorrow (suprise, suprise...I'm now a member of three teams). Also, I have a question. When I try to create a new music quiz, it says "Sorry, new quizzes have been temporarily disabled. Try again in a few days." It has been saying this for three days. Anyone have a reason why this is happening?

I resubmited The Decemberists quiz, and it should be online within the next week. My next project is the band Neutral Milk Hotel, which I may then follow with a Wolf Parade quiz. Too many good bands slip under the radar and I hope that by creating these quizzes more people will be alerted of their incredible talents.

Also, should I be disgruntled at the small amount of times my quizzes have been played? I don't have a quiz that has been played anywhere near 500 times, and a few below 100 times. Should I be offended by this? Please, even if you know nothing about my quizzes, give them a chance.

  • Most quizzes aren't played that many times by members, which used to be all we saw, my oldest quizzes haven't been played more than about 100 times a year. But most are played by guests and these are now reported and that's probably 80% of the total.

  • I wouldn't take it personally. I have a few quizzes that haven't hit the 100 plays mark and I don't really think they ever will. They're quizzes on specific bands that not everyone will be interested in. I've enjoyed your quizzes and I know others have as well and that's all that really matters. I'd rather have 10 people play and enjoy my quiz than 500 people play and dislike it.

  • With the message "quizzes temporarily disabled" I think there was a big back log of quizzes over the Christmas/New Year period so maybe wait a few days and resubmit :)

  • Thought so Indie. My least played quizzes are on The Postal Service (fantastic band, just featured on a UPS commercial, by the way) and another on a semi-popular book series. My most played quiz, on the book "Eragon" is probably my worst quiz, and yet it has the most plays. Ah well. Let's hope the Decemberists quiz can at least top 25 plays. *guffaw*

@Blueee: Why was there so many quizzes submitted over the New Year period? Seems like there would be less as most people wouldn't have a chance to reach the computer.

  • I suspect there have been more quizzes because people have been off work, so have lots of time to occupy. Several of my quizzes have been too 'specialised' to attract much interest. I look at all new quizzes to see whether I can answer most of the questions if I cannot I don't take the quiz, sadly I couldn't answer any of the questions in your current quizzes; however, I read a lot and will get round to Eragon and Jonathen Stroud. I can recommend collaborating with someone on e.g. a mixed literature quiz, or for a mixed movie quiz, which might be more popular. Most of my 17 quizzes aren't very popular and, like you, my 'poorest' quiz is probably most popular (Henry VII).

  • 1) could be an increase in quiz submissions due to the fact that some have more time on their hands (i.e. school holidays and what not).

    2) the editors may have cut back on their own hours during that period.
