Tales from Room 9

Tales from Third Grade...and Other Places....

A fiesta?!?!

Another Henry story...this kid cracks me up!

We're on our way to the cafeteria, and by some miracle, we actually get there early.  I tell the class we're just going to hang out outside the cafeteria, because if we try to go in with all of the first lunch kids, it will be....

"A fiesta!" cries Henry.  (He meant "fiasco")

Another tale from another room... A good friend of mine teaches emotional support students in a different school in our district.  Here's the e-mail she sent me:
i always let my students decorate the classroom for Christmas. the other day we were doing the decorating and two of my boys were getting the things out that were going to be on the fireplace mantle. we have a candle, several dreidels, and a nativity. one of my third graders was hap-hazardly placing the nativity pieces. i suggested that we organize them pieces. so i said "let's put these three with the gifts together. they are the wisemen, in the song from music they are the three kings. now this one with the staff; he is a shepherd and works out in the field with the animals. so let's put the sheep and donkeys with him. this is the barn. this blue one is mary we can put her next to the cradle. this one is j..." as i was ready to tell him joseph's name this little guy looked up at me with those big eyes of his and said, "miss dillon, that's so cute that you named your dolls!!!!!!"
