WEIGHT LOSS

Today is a very special day. For the simple reason that four years ago today, I changed my lifestyle. On the 22nd of August 2003, I discovered that I was "boarderline diabetes". If I did not cut down the "goodies - cakes, sausage rolls, chocolate biscuits bythe handful - I would soon have full blown diabetes and have to inject myself every day. Seeming I am even now still terrified of injections, I changed my lifestyle overnight. I was 13 stone (182 pounds) - and probably more.

AUGUST 2003

So slowly, but slowly, the weight began to fall off. I didn't change what I eat really, I just cut down on chocolate etc, only allowing it three days a week rather than seven. Sometimes I would stay the same weight and sometimes I would lose only a pound. But at Christmas, and Easter, the weight did not pile back on.

And today, four years since I started my "healthly lifestyle", I am Eight stone and nine pounds (121 pounds).

AUGUST 2007

Dad was really proud of the way I was losing weight - and of course, Mum is too. So slow and steady weight loss is the way to go!!

Harry Potter

Needless to say, I was eagerly anticipating the final book in the series. As usual J. K. Rowling did NOT disappoint - in my opinion! Deathly Hallows, for me, is the best in the series. The right people married each other, and brilliant twist with what exactly the Deathly Hallows were, and what was the final Horcrux. What made the series perfect for me, however, was Professor Longbottom, in the Epilogue. I was a little disappointed with the Epilogue, it jumped from the battle to nineteen years later a little too quickly. But I have loved Neville ever since the first book, so I was delighted to see that he became the new Herbology teacher. Deathly Hallows certainly changed my opinion on a certain Severus Snape too - I even felt sorry for him!!

I had embroidered bookmarks for the rest of the Harry Potter series and here is my Deathly Hallows one, with the locket, Hufflepuff's cup, the diadem, the Deathly Hallows sign and the Gaunt ring.

I was also inspired to make a "Hermione bag" ! I beaded tiny little seed beads onto plastic canvas.

I shall try to Blog a little more soon!

  • I keep forgetting these blogs are here. Lovely embroidery work Jane - I really admire your skill and patience.

Ditto the weight loss - losing it isn't that difficult, it's keeping it off. Well done.
