Bill's Wannabe Blog

I thought this would be a good place to start for a blogically challenged person like myself.  So, I started at the beginning, sort of.  After creating this blog site, or shell, I then researched the term 'blog' to see what it meant.  (By the way:  thank you Fun Trivia for including the blog format for us to use).  If there are any other blog dummies like me out there reading this, read on--  I Googled 'blog' and got the following results:

1.  A blog is a website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in reverse chronological order.  source- www.sussexlearningnetwork.org.uk/glossary/B

OK, so it's a reverse ordered journal...so I journal backwards?  That can't be right, so I read on. 

2.  Online journal.  The term BLOG comes from web log.  source- www.emerge-solutions.com/learning_glossary.html

What could be simpler!  It's an online journal, named BLOG, which is a shortened version of "web log".  But, I'm no clearer on the BIG PICTURE:  like, where do I start 'blogging' and what about...and why on earth would anyone else on earth be interested in what I'm blogging about?  Ok, Ok, slow down Bill.  I must be missing something on the research side.  Let's see what else Google has to offer to enlighten the unenlightened like me: 

3.  Web LOG is a journal kept on the internet.  This journal is often updated daily and contains all the information that the person maintaining the BLOG (blogger) wishes to share with the world...  source- www.aprompt.co.uk/support/glossary.asp

Now, let's see if I get this now.  A blog is a kind of online journal that's displayed backwards; it's on the internet for worldwide viewing, often updated daily.  Hmmmmmmm, I think it's getting clearer, but the clearer it gets, the scarier it gets:  things like "share with the world" kind of freak me out a bit.  Maybe one more stab at the Google research will help.

4.  An online diary where people can post messages and others may view and respond to the posts.  source- www.legalinternetmarketing.com/seo-glossary.html

Now we're talking!  A BLOG is a kind of techno-diary.  Others can view it if they want, and respond if they want.  That doesn't sound too intimidating.  I guess I could give it a try.  What do you think #113 Classmates and my Teammates in Just4Fun?  :-)
