English is a crazy language!
I know it's been awhile...I just get caught
up in other things, but here's one
that should make you chuckle!
Maria is one of my ESL students (learning English as a Second Language) from Mexico. She's a real sweetheart. Her parents speak absolutely no English. So when she was absent from school, Mom's much younger sister, who has some English helped to write the note. "Dear Mrs. Miehl," it read. "Please excuse my Maria for missing school. She had a fever and we took her to the doctor. Her arm hurted because the doctor shot her."
I am NOT making this up!
