Something About Nothing

To Celebrate

The anniversary of my birth has come (and gone) once again. Like last year, I found myself craving sickly sweet alcoholic beverages for the occasion. Last year it was Pina Colada's, this year it's White Russians, I don't know why. Unlike last year, I have my drink of choice and have had quite a merry day.
Mother in law brought me some rather lovely Egyptian cotton towels and step mum brought me some bath bombs. I got the hint, I had a bath. It was nice. It was also about two hours in duration. Hubby hasn't been home today (don't worry, he took me out and got me Harrison Ford for my birthday on Friday night, I don't imagine I'll be looking that good in nineteen years time) so the boy and I went out for lunch and then went shopping. We probably brought a little too much, but I blame hubby for that.
The boy and I have been playing Lego Star Wars on the PS3 for the past month or so so today we brought the two movies we didn't have in the series, The Phantom Menace and the second one, can't remember what it's called. I didn't really enjoy either movie when I first saw them, but the silly game has brought them alive for me. We sat down and watched them both while eating junky junk food and loving the fact that we had the perfect excuse to do nothing while the rain pelted down outside.

I've been a bit peeved over the past week or two. My computer never had an Ethernet card and we'd been connecting to the internet using a USB cable. Hubby brought an Ethernet card for the computer because (he said) it would make it faster and more stable, I know it was just because he wanted an Ethernet cable to be able to connect the PS3 to the internet. Since I've been using the Ethernet connection to get on the internet, my connection has been really unstable. Walk away in disgust unstable. I've tried to connect through the USB cable again but something has gone stupid with the whole thing. That didn't stop me renewing my gold membership though. Strange, but I had no problems at all with the connection when I was doing that.

Dad visited yesterday and announced that he has finally handed in his notice at his work - he's retiring. When I asked him what made him finally decide to do it, the answer was very depressing: "When you realise that your children are nearly forty, you realise that you can finally take it easy."

Gee, thanks Dad.
